The increasing market for Near Infrared Spectroscopy in the last years due to industry needs in raw material classification, polymer analysis, moisture quantification, saturated fatty acid identification among others lead to the development of different instrumentation, mainly for miniaturized solutions that can be portable, robust and easily integrated in an industrial environment. 

One of the biggest issues with NIR spectroscopy was the cost of the multi element detectors which made the investment for an NIR Spectrometer prohibitive for some industries. With the innovative design of SPEC NIR that uses single element detectors, Sarspec is able to offer an affordable solution ideal for transmission measurements with high stability and robustness.  

Also, the SPEC NIR is it the only miniaturized fiber optic spectrometer with the capability to use Silicon and InGaAs detectors for a detection range from 660 to 2400nm with the best optical resolution. This is possible due to the use of ultra fast periodic micro electectrical-mechanical mirrors with scan speeds up to 4ms and two single element detectors. 

The SPEC NIR Spectrometer is confugured as standard with ranges from:
SPEC NIR 1.7: 600-1700nm (uncooled detector as standard)
SPEC NIR 2.1: 910-2100nm (cooled detector as standard)
SPEC NIR 2.4: 910-2400nm (cooled detector as standard)

NIR Technology is a really versatile technique where compounds in a mixture can be determined by their spectral absorption characteristics based on specific combinations of molecular vibrations and molecular overtones or to perform fast verification of known substances by comparison against a reference spectrum.
